U.S. TRADE AND EXPORT PROMOTION
  • Excess Property Business Initiative: Conceived of and authored Senate report language accompanying the FY 1993 DoD Appropriation Act establishing a program to promote American exports using Department of Defense excess property transferred through the Department's Humanitarian Assistance Program.

  • Trade and Development Program (TDP): Initiated and successfully recommended a $5 million funding increase for TDP through the FY 1990 Foreign Operations Appropriation Act, the first in several years.

  • Expropriation Claims: Authored Senate Committee report language accompanying the FY 1990 Foreign Operations Appropriation Act directing the Department of State to undertake a thorough review of the policies and procedures for managing the overseas expropriation claims of U.S. businesses.

  • Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) Growth Fund: Initiated and successfully recommended the establishment of a $50 million country growth fund through OPIC, opening up business opportunities for U.S. companies, strengthening trade ties and enabling American manufacturers to benefit from Israeli technological innovation. This is one of many growth funds administered by OPIC.

  • International Executive Service Corps (IESC): Authored Senate report language accompanying the FY 1990 Foreign Operations Appropriation Act encouraging USAID to increase funding for IESC to $7.1 million for expanded activities to promote private sector business opportunities in the developing world.
