DOD PROCUREMENT
  • Ammunition Procurement: In Senate report language accompanying the FY 1993 DoD Appropriation Act directed the GAO to conduct a comprehensive review of the M829A2 120mm tank round program to include its cost effectiveness, technical feasibility and threat requirement. GAO also directed to report on the Army's inventory of 120 mm M829 and M829A1 rounds and the manner in which it calculates its inventory stockpile objective.

  • Ammunition Demilitarization: Conceived of and authored Senate Committee report language accompanying the FY 1993 DoD Appropriation Act directing the Department of the Army to prepare a comprehensive plan for ammunition demilitarization and disposal, including the use of existing U.S. Government industrial facilities for that purpose. Successfully recommended increased funding for demilitarization to $35 million in FY 1993.

  • DBOF Limitation: Authored general provision and report language accompanying the FY 1993 DoD Appropriation Act directing that the Department not implement Defense Management Report Decision (DMRD) 944, which would have established a defense business operating fund (DBOF) for ammunition procurement.
